# "SELECT new map()" column java types

Hi. I bootstrap Hibernate programmatically and I have a java bean “DbLog” having:

```auto
public java.util.Date getChangedDate();
public void setChangedDate(java.util.Date val);

```

When I do HQL: “SELECT new map(changedDate) FROM DbLog”  
the result Map value is of type java.sql.TimeStamp. How to configure Hibernate to use java.util.Date instead?

What’s the problem? `java.sql.Timestamp` extends `java.util.Date`, so this is fine.
